Would you like to know who you can always count on to be your biggest critic?

A teenage daughter.

Yeah… she didn’t quickly muster up the words “I love that, mom!”

But I won her over… eventually.

The inspiration for this project started with this Anthro rug and continued to evolve from this really cool, yet different combination of colors. Sort of unexpected.

I had to BEG for Kat (my 14-year-old daughter) to trust my vision because when I showed her this rug, she thought it was “a little much”- maybe an eye roll was given. The colors were vibrant, to say the least, but we went with white walls, and calm bedding, so I had her convinced it would be ok.

I loved introducing several shades of purple in this room. Purple isn’t my “go-to” color but in here, it felt great. Mixed with blush, and cream, and mint… ahhh, things really started to feel like a spot she would love to hang in. No arguments once she saw where we were going with these playful textures. :)

Now, this little nook in the room was fun to create and became necessary in 2020! We needed a desk… after all, this was during quarantine and sista needed a spot to ZOOM. (It’s still so funny that this became our new way of life.)

I LOVED adding the wallpaper as a statement in the background. It made the closet just POP and became a welcomed surprise when opening the old double doors.

And doesn’t every teenager need an awesome mirror to make sure that lip gloss is still POPPIN’?! (She’s totally going to cringe if she ever reads this.) It’s fine. Reading mom’s blog isn’t at the top of her to-do list.

This Anthro mirror is just a really great piece. I’ve seen it used a million times and it never gets old. This dresser is also an Anthro-find and the quality is the real deal. Solid, heavy… GOOD STUFF.

And ole’ Theodore, he made for a good photo prop/additional rug.
