CG Living Inspiration
When Fred and I were renovating our home in 2007, BOY, were we ever overwhelmed with DETAILS! We had a 1-year-old and a 2-year-old and LOTS of work to do to make this house feel like HOME. Our bedroom was upstairs which enabled it to not be a priority design-wise. I didn’t really care to get new furniture — to be honest, I didn’t care about the room at all. Priorities were mattress - check, blackout curtains - check, baby monitor - check. We truly needed to get through the toddler stages of life first. HA! What we didn’t realize is that number 3 would be coming and toddler life was inevitable for the foreseeable future.
Fast forward to 2015, I found the fabric that I ended up using for the curtains at a design sourcing center in Baton Rouge and fell in LOVE. I loved the colors and the styling and just knew it was the inspiration for the whole kit and kaboodle. I ordered the yardage needed to complete the drapery and it sat on a bolt collecting dust in the corner of the room for what seemed like a very LONG time.
Simultaneously, I began to search for furniture that coordinated well and also felt like the mood I was trying to achieve — timeless, classic, and calming. After the bedroom was complete, I was so pleased with the results. It honestly inspired the CG Living journey after friends began to ask for design help. I really decided that sharing and designing was a passion and something that I should pursue somehow, hence, lifestyle blog!
I loved the colors in here so much so that I asked my graphic designer and sweet friend, Caitlin Gossen of Hark Creative (yes, we have the same name!), to consider using these colors when designing my logo for CG Living. She CAME through and it was instant love for me. (She also named CG Living — gotta give credit where it is due!) Thanks, Caitlin!
